60 + 51 = 101

In opening I would like to point out that my boyfriend is a very intelligent manboy with a tendency to speak quickly before thinking about what it is that is jumping into the world by way of his mouth. He also has not one but two large screen TVs in his living room. This is a point which I love to make fun of because it is so RIDICULOUS. The thing about having two tvs is that you can watch MULTIPLE SPORTS EVENTS AT THE SAME TIME. Apparently, this is Dan's idea of heaven.
This afternoon he mentioned possibly moving the smaller (51") television into another room, which I supported. I stated said support by agreeing that perhaps 63 inches of television was enough for one room, just maybe.
At this comment a look of shame, embarrassment, and inadequecy overcame him and he corrected my innocent mistake by mumbling "60." I rolled my eyes as though this was simply the single most dissappointing moment of my life, as though I had been mislead for years when he exclaimed, "But really its 101 inches of total television screen!"
Its the little things that reassure me time and time again that I REALLY AM THE SMARTER ONE.

Dan's first estate sale

Okay, anyone who knows me well, knows that I have something of an estate sale fettish. It's been put on the backburner for about a year and a half now, but yesterday, when I saw the words "3+ generations" in an estate sale clip, I knew nothing would stop me from rummaging through all those terrific and horrific things!
Dan was at the least skeptical (they all are in the beginning), but when we pulled up to a bright aqua marine house with a big pink banner that said sale and no frills other than that, I could see his insides shudder with fear and dissappointment. He even muttered that this place would be full of "junk". We walked in and it was everything I dreamed of: a craft room, cute material, costume jewelry, knick knacks, needless to say I was pleased. Dan, after a momentary look of boredom and awe at the hideously overpriced porcelain items for sale, stumbled unknowingly into the garage. In the garage he found a box of little old man clothes that (thankfully) fit him great, so he added some vintage Van Heusen's, along with a fabulous pair of plaid golf pants to his wardrobe. I fell in love with him all over again in his old man clothes.
Whn we got home he put on his new clothes (after washing) and made me take pictures of him with a golf club:

Having not slept well, I am now a monster...Grrr

Do you ever have the feeling that you are the absolute biggest crab in the entire world, when all you want is to represent yourself in the best possible light for the world? Well, last night I slept at my mom's house and I slept in shifts of 2 hours on 2 hours off, and needless to say this morning I feel like a huge pile of steaming excrement. And so I picked up the classifieds, depressed myself further and went back to bed for what I hoped was my final two hour shift.
Today is the last day of the knitting olympics, and all I have to do is weave in my loose thread ends and the pic will posted this evening. I am so excited about my ability to follow through! (usually I lose interest half way and start a new project- which I did, luckily neither of them take as long as some of the projects in progress I have seen being posted all over the internet. I swear, its like the knitters of the world took over these last two weeks! Awesome!
Darn, the eyelids are closing again, and its NOON, what is my problem? Ugh...

Hot date night

A lit candle, a large empty house, cable high-def, the lifetime movie channel featuring "Obsessed" starring Jenna Elfman, what more could I possibly want? As good as it all sounds, here's the short list that come to mind:
Becky would enjoy this, except she would fight for the right to watch "What Not to Wear," a cup of coffee to help spur on the creative energy flow, a boy just in the background for occassional ego boost comments and general eye-candy purposes, and of course a replacement pint of Coffee Haagan-Daz ice cream which I just blew through as though I hadn't had the privilege in years, when the truth is it was a mere night before last.
All in all good quality time for me with me.

Wow! Technology is cool!

Testing email posting...

hmmm does this work?

7 tile words

As any scrabble player knows, if you build a word using all 7 of your tiles you get the 50 bonus points to add to your total word score. This is a rare occurrence in our Scrabble history, but both times it has occurred, it was Dans, er, genius that produced it, a small fact that he likes to hold over my head by keeping a tally sheet out in obvious places with the date, word, total points scored, and name of who got it (his). He also likes to throw out comments like, "some people just think BIGGER than other people, honey."

The Knitting Olympics and delayed social commentary

This is a depiction of my Bright Idea Monday which was when I thought I was a superhero who could paint the interior of my mom's house all by myself and save her thousands (hundreds-it's not that big) of dollars. Upon one more minute of pondering (and drawing) I realized what a DISASTER this would be. Reasons this would not work:
1. I loathe manual labor.
2. It would involve time away from crafting. UNACCEPTABLE!
3. ...manual labor? Ugh...

On to other topics, Ms. hardcori has given in to her blogging urge and started her own! I have included her in my sidebar to encourage frequent readings. Hi, Cori! The pink rocks my socks off, and inspires me to incorporate some updates of my own on to my template!

Also, the knitting olympics has under 2 days left, and though I am not an officially registered participant, I did cast on for my first knitted bikini on opening day, and just finished the bottoms today, leaving me one full day for minor improvements and elastic addition! I am sad I missed the registration deadline, but this was such a fun idea that I had to participate! Next year I am definately signing up early!
I will post the pics of my bikini tomorrow during closing ceremonies.

So now I will leave you with the following delayed social commentary found on the window of my boyfriend's 1976 F250:

Survivor vs. the O.C.

I live for Thursdays. It's close to the end of the week, and the possibility of the O.C. being on is fueling me on through my hectic day. I say possibility, because for the last two weeks Fox has been toying with me to a desperately annoying degree. I lived the last year of my life fighting with people who were addicted to Survivor for rights to the remote, and then the clouds parted and Fox moved the O.C. to 9. With this stroke of dumb luck, I could finally stop screaming at strangers as well as loved ones about how I HATED SURVIVOR (lie). Now I can live in this quiet calm realm of acceptance that allows me to indulge in my hidden love affair with Survivor, while still maintaining a high level of pride and self-respectable dedication to the O.C. I feel like life is back in balance again. Except for the fact that Fox only airs a new episode of the O.C. once a damn (sorry gramma) month! It is all just so unfair.
I'm sure someone out there reading this understands what I have been going through. The torment.

Oh, coffee, sweet nectar of the gods

I have just made the most fabulous pot of coffee. The ritual of morning coffee is sacred to me, something about it brings a satisfying feeling of calm with which I can liesurely begin my day. On the agenda:
1. Volunteer at VIM.
2. Make an altered book for my favorite recipies.
3. Apply for a handful of Office or Medical Assistant jobs.
4. Make Orange-Cranberry muffins.
Have a good day everyone!

Yarn Heaven

Dan and I are continuing our Six Feet Under marathon tonight. We finished season 3 last night, and it seemed like an eternity until we were safely back in the realm of our beloved funeral parlor!
We also swung by the local yarn store and he picked out yarn for the scarf I am going to make for him. It was great! They had yarn spun from bamboo! I had no idea that they could even do that! Martha's stitch 'n bitch gathering is tonight, but I am far too nestled in my couch with SFU, boy, and new yarn to leave. Ahhh....

feeling emotional discombobulated

Aaaahhhh, this morning I am craving a Dutch Bros. Mocha. This is no different from any other day except that I am going to drink it and contemplate my current situation, instead of drinking it while I drive frantically from one spot to another. I feel like I have been floating through my life for the last couple months. I need something to make me feel like I am not so dependent on everyone in my life. I need a job. School is not enough for me to feel like a self-sustaining person. (I wonder why...) I need to move out of my mother's home, and I need to feel established in one of my own. Having said all of the above, I am lost as to how to do all the above and follow the direction that I want to go in my life. Needless to say, I am confused today.
But oddly happy and fine with that.

Saturday in a nutshell

This afternoon, my normal Saturday activities (sitting on the couch WITH CONVICTION), were pleasantly interrupted by an impromptu brunch invitation from my Ladies. We hit the Lucky Noodle and then Dan and I headed to the movies to catch the late afternoon matinee of Brokeback Mountain. I cried. I still want to cry. That's all I have to say.

Patterns, schmatterns...

I missed registration for the knitting olympics, but decided I would go ahead and proceed as though I was registered. I casted on during the opening games and intend to be done with my blue bikini by the 26th of February, as the guidelines permit. However, following a pattern (that I don't actually physically possess) is much more difficult than anticipated. I already had to undo the bottoms entirely due to the fact that they were GIGANTIC, even though it was the small version of the pattern that I was attempting. I guess the mistake most likely lies in my impatience to get started and therefore complete disregard to the bold typed note on every pattern ever printed that says, TAKE THE TIME TO GAUGE YOUR STITCHES BY KNITTING A 4X4 INCH SWATCH. I read that (over and over and over) and thought "Eh." So let the beginning rebegin. This time I am using a pair of fave undies as the sole pattern for size. Wish me luck.

Ms. anatomist has promised me a digital camera once she "finds" it. This no doubt means I will get it for Christmas next year, at which time the USB cord will be so obsolete I will not recognize what it is. However, I am still grateful for the extremely generous thought! So hopefully more current pics will get posted here on a more frequent basis!

First Innaugural Love Day Considered a Success!

Well, from here on out Love Day will be officially celebrated on February 15th! A mellow day which involved a stint of volunteering (floundering without a captain is a more accurate description), a bit of excessive loitering at Border's, and a losing scrabble game. All in all it was a fabulous Love Day!

Meet Clyde

This is Clyde.
Last night's dinner at Willie's on 7th was an absolutely fabulous time! Today we are celebrating the first ever Love Day, created by the kids at tworedlines! I hope everyone out there chooses to help us celebrate this noncommercial holiday dedicated to love.
On a side note: I feel like chocolate is seeping out of my pores. ;)

Happy Valentine's Day

This is tare panda. He is lazy like how I feel today, except that I have the added excuse of being sick with a cold which I recieved as a departing gift from tworedlines.

Peanutbutter Chocolate chip cookies

Combine:
1.25 C flour
.75 t baking soda
.5 t baking powder
.25 t salt
Cream:
.5 C butter
1 C peanut butter (I used crunchy)
.5 C brown sugar
.5 C sugar
Add:
1 egg
Fold in:
bag of semisweet chocolate morsels. place 1 inch balls on greased and floured cookie sheet, do the criss cross fork thingy that makes them Proper Peanutbutter Cookies, and bake at 375 for 8-10. A little underdone is good for chewy cookies later, if they last that long. Mmmm....

Ran for Chocolate

Dan and I ran in the 10th Annual Truffle Shuffle today at Alton Baker Park. He finished in 17 minutes, and I finished in 23 minutes. Not bad, considering neither of us have been running. We are planning to do the Butte to Butte 10K race in July.

home sweet home

i am home after 12 hours on amtrak to get from bellingham to eugene. what a fiasco. never again. trains are good for six hours, then a rented car would have done just fine.
Leaving Washington was difficult, i felt a pretty deep connection to the land up there. It's just beautiful. Leaving little Violet was pretty tough too.
