Boston Blow-Out!

Well, I arrived in Boston yesterday at 4:30pm, and was tossed in to the most wonderful chaos that occurs when all the girls are together in the same spot. Oh the insanity. So last night after a long dinner and makeover session, we headed out to the raging metropolis of suburban Massachusettes, Everett. We stopped in to a little dive bar called Derby's that consisted of about 20 men over 45 having bud lights and two women: the bartender and her sister. The four of us opened the front door, walked to the bar, and overheard, "uh oh, here comes the fashion show..." We ordered a couple of drinks, that were paid for by one of the members of our new audience, and Ashley put $20 in the scratch it vending machine. We sipped our beers, tried to be friendly amdist unsure glares, and scratched our tickets. Ashley scratched hers and revealed her ticket to be a $500 winner. She bought a round of drinks for everyone in the bar (a grand total of $42), and we had 20 new best friends! We didn't buy another drink the rest of our stay, I am not sure wehter they were bought by other patrons, or the bartender herself, who took an immediate liking to us, but the beers kept appearing open and directly in front of us. Quite a night on the town in the suburbs of Boston. One night down and four to go.....

the $110 $34 dollar jacket

We all get them, the coupons in the mail that say "20% off during (blank) month." Normally, I know better. I toss them in the trash the day they arrive in my mailbox. But back in August I made my first mistake. I went to the store and made a purchase. It was my birthday, I thought I would treat myself, so I bought a clearance jacket for $34 after my 20% coupon. The first red flag was when I took it to the register and was told I had to put on my account in order to get the discount. So I did (mistake 2). Then time went by, I got a bill, thought I paid it, got another bill, and this continued until yesterday when I had to finally have a witness watch me schedule my online payment for $109.99 to pay for my $34 dollar jacket that had accrued $75.00 in late fees. Ugh. Gross. The horror. Extreme idiot.

Good days and Bad days

Some days are just good. I don't know why. I have no idea what happens in the world to make it a good day. I am not saying these days don't have any bad in them, but somedays are just infinately easier to deal with what the world throws at you.
Today was a long day at work, problems arose, and I didn't get enough lunch (this last one is usually the case). But I felt like smiling the whole day. And some days, even if everything goes smoothly, I can be the biggest grumpasaurus ever. I don't know why. I just don't. Today I decided to stop trying to figure it out and just enjoy.....

martha + borat = heaven

martha's magazine madness

Seriously, I am in heaven! One of them may be found from May 2003, but they are all new to me!

Dan and I went tonight to see Borat tonight, and laughed so much. Some of it was very difficult to watch, like the frat boys on the bus, the rodeo, and evangelical meeting, but others were a delight! Like watching two naked men run through a hotel conference, while wrestling. Amazing.

beloved wedding tidbits

Well, it is about 2:30 am, and I am in the living room being wide awake and unable to get back to my restful sleeping time. I awoke about a half an hour ago with my head absolutely spinning in circles over this whole wedding thing. Dan and I have to decide on all sorts of things in order to get hitched. When, where, who, how, and how much are all questions that seem to intermingle in my brain and overwhelm me in their interconnected dependence. How are we supposed to decide on music when we don't have a venue picked out? How are we supposed to pick a caterer if we don't know how many people are going to be there? How are we supposed to choose a venue if we don't know what the weather will do? How are we supposed to determine what the weather will do when we don't know what month we want to get married in? (this type of thinking can lead to three things: drinking heavily (if one is so inclined), the courthouse (with $25 for a marriage certificate), or down a simple little path called insanity. I think that I am moving toward the acceptance that insanity may be my chosen path.

From left to right this is Deeds, Kasha, Ashley, Me, and Allison. Amber is in Boston, but she should be in the middle.
It's 6:30 am and I have already hopped on the treadmill this morning. I love when I actually push myself out of bed and do this first thing because it starts my day off with a sense of accomplishment.

time is whirring by me

I have hardly had a chance to breathe, and when I looked at my last post I realized it has been over a week! Ack, that was one of my plans was to be better at regular updates! Oh well, I guess sometimes we just aren't able to keep up, despite our best intentions!
It feels like I started this term in school yesterday and now it is already week seven! Unbelievable! How in the world does time fly that fast? I am perpetually amazed.
I was able to arrange for Friday as a day off, which was so nice because now, on Saturday morning, I still have a whole weekend off!
