first day of school blues

Well, every time I start school, I wonder why it is that anxiety runs rampant through my body the day before. I got my answer at the end of my first day when I realized I locked my one key in the car. After the pop-lock guy came out and let me into my car, I then proceeded to head home before realizing that my back pack with $400 worth of books was still on the grass by my car. The whole way back out to LCC I was praying that it was still sitting there, which of course it wasn't. So after crying I called public safety and thankfully someone had indeed turned it in. I was elated and exhausted by the time I got home. Studied a tidbit and hit the sack. Now it is the next morning and I have ten hours of work to do... Yay!!!!

Today I crafted like no tomorrow existed

I made this little sachet (from the DSQ book)out of the lavendar from our front yard. I am thinking about making them for presents this year for the holidays. Yeah, I said it, I am starting to think about holiday gift giving and ways to avoid the last minute money flush that occurs when I realize I haven't gotten gifts for everyone I love. So I am starting now.
One of Dan's friends from high school came over from Montana this weekend with his girlfriend. It's always fun to meet people who know the one you love. And oh, the stories!

Yay for mail!!

Today this was in my mail. Could a girl be any happier? Not if Nara showed up on my door with an original piece done just for me! Well, maybe then.

My Studio is Finished!

My craft studio! I painted the room, rearranged somethings and presto! An amazing little spot with all my junk neatly condensed into one place. A spot for guests sleeping, a spot for studying during school, and a place for extensive crafting projects to be begun! See more on flickr....
Last night, due to the mildest "storm" in Eugene history, our neighborhood lost power for the evening. Since Dan and I are technology era babies we were struck dumb by this and promptly did the only natural thing to do in that situation: we went to bed. At nine. We are so old.
Even wierder than the going to bed early, was the getting up early. We were out of bed and on our way to Jerry's by 8:15 am. The next two hours we sipped coffee and planned out a complete overhaul of our house strolling up and down the magnificent isles of Jerry's Home Improvement Heaven. We somehow managed to spend less than two bills, but came out with new hardware for the bathroom, new plants for the living room, and loads of ideas. Now we just have to find the time, patience, and $$ to make them all happen!

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON MOVIE

I got home from work today and popped some leftover baked ziti in the microwave. I fell into the couch and flipped through channels until I found the movie, The Interpreter. I hadn't seen it yet, I thought it was pretty interesting. Dan went to go play a golf game with his work today at Tokatee, and got home late. We love reheating ziti like they do in the Sopranos. Those little things are pretty satisfying...
I have spent the last few days painting my new craft studio/quest room. I don't think I will be done with it until this weekend, but I will post pictures when it is finished.
School starts in a week, and one of my books bought used is still $176... How outrageous! Oh well. Infuriating though!

Long Glorious Weekend!

Dan and I had visitors from the North this weekend! Effie, Andrew, and Violet came to Eugene to stay for a few fabulous days. Frighteningly nice to hold a baby. She's nearly a year old already! Wow, how time flies. She was getting a cold, and was all mucousy for the majority of the visit, but seemed to be in pretty good spirits regardless.
I was inspired to craft with the arrival of Ef, she triggered the crazy crafting fanatic in me, and I could hardly speak all day today since I was absorbed in my own crafting world. Its a nice feeling to reconnect again to something I love so much. Its amazing how things can get put on the back burner no matter how important they are when life gets going.
Now that the summer is coming to an end, our stream of visitors will dwindle as well. Sad, but also exciting, because now I am preparing to overhaul the guest room into a guest room/ craft studio! I have found so much inspiration out on the internet through all the crafty kids websites, I can't wait to get started. I may even have another visitor from the North (Ms. Anatomist) come down and help me set up! Yippee!
